ILS 10012 (beginner - Spring semester).
This class meets 2 times per week for 16 weeks, 1 credit. Final exam is performance on stage in April for Latin Expressions (sponsored by Latinx Student Alliance).
 
This course is designed to develop beginner dance skills for regional dance styles of Mexico. Students interested in becoming dancers will learn steps, techniques, culture, and choreography post colonial pieces from the region of Sinaloa. Principles of body alignment, strength, and coordination will be introduced as they relate to dance and performance. No previous dance experience required. Shoes, skirts, hats provided.
 
ILS 10013 (Intermediate - Fall semester)
This class meets 2 x week for 8 weeks. Final exam is performance before Fall Break for Hispanic Heritage Month (sponsored by ILS).
 
This course is designed to develop intermediate dance skills for regional dance styles of Mexico. Students interested in becoming performers in school groups will learn steps, techniques, culture, and choreography post colonial pieces from the region of Jalisco. Principles of body alignment, strength, and coordination will be introduced as they relate to dance and performance. Some previous dance experience required. Shoes, skirts, hats provided.
